Learn How A Home Security System Functions By David C. Johnson It was only three decades ago that if someone had a system, it basically consisted of sensors on the doors and windows that were connected to an alarm box on the side of the home and that was it. If you have watched in the spy movies how the secret agent cut some wire to disarm these types of systems, you may be surprised that often times it was even easier than that, because all that was required was to turn off the homes power at the breaker box.
Then technology began to come available that changed the way that systems function and has also made them far more difficult to disable. Another thing that is now included in an alarm system is security systems that protect you and your family against fire and carbon monoxide gas that can be emitted from a faulty gas heating system.
The great thing about all of the components of a multi-layered security system is that if it is monitored it will notify you of the emergency such as a fire and at the same time call the fire department or the police automatically. It is important to bear in mind that having emergency person ell notified for you can be invaluable due to the fact that in time of crises you will most likely be fully occupied saving yourself and your loved ones.
Fantastic new technology has made its way into modern up-to-date alarm systems that make protecting your home so much more easier to do. “Infrared” or body heat detectors are now used with motion detectors to create a multi-layered security system that completely covers a home or business inside and out.
It starts outside, with a thirty-five foot security perimeter that wraps completely around the home or building that is being protected, that will signal the control panel if anyone enters it, any time, day or night, in any type of weather. The next layer of security is at the doors and windows that have sensors on them that will notify the control panel if they are opened after the system is set.
The third layer of security is inside of the home or building, where concealed heat and motion detectors send a signal to the control panel if anyone has found themselves inside of the building. You may ask yourself, how can anyone find themselves inside with all the security outside and on the doors and windows.
The answer to that is that it is highly unlikely but just to play it safe they are in place. Because the entire system can be wireless now, there are no wires to be cut and even the security monitoring station is notified over the air just the same way as your cell phone works. Every system
